General
In general please behave sensibly, and respect other people's opinions. Abusive language will not be tolerated. All communication must happen in English, and any violation of this can result in a termination from the services, or a direct ban from our website and IRC. For those that want a general rule to stick to: - Respect all people -
Ban submissions
When submitting a ban, the admin submitting has to make sure that the submission contains suitable evidence and that a 'sb_status' was done within the demo to verify the cheaters ID. If this is not the case any submission can be rejected.
Click here for a guide that will help you record a proper demo.
Update 06/01/2004: We will not accept submissions made from material collected on a cheaters only server. We have nothing against people cheating on cheaters only servers because this does not go against the server rules. If a person is cheating on a server that does not allow cheaters => thatÂ’s a violation and we will accept the bans taken the demo is conclusive.
Ban reasons
We only conduct global bans on the base of substantiated proof, and only for one reason: cheating. We know that there are a vast number of different definitions of cheating.
Our definition:
"External programs or scripts that are used in order to gain an unfair advantage that goes against the spirit, environment, or the natural limits of the game"
By this definition we ban for cheats like: Wallhack, Aimbot, Speedhack, or other obvious use of cheats, and NOT: Skywalking or other smaller bug abuse, burst fire scripts and AWM scripts etc. A global ban however is imposed on use of larger bugs such as respawn hack and teleport script usage. Having a server in the SteamBans network does not stop the server admins banning people from their server like normal.
Proof
We do not accept any other method of proof than Demos. We do not accept IRC logs, server logs, or screenshots allegedly taken by the cheater as they can be easily faked. We only accept demos where a fakeproof steamid list is taken during the demo. This is done by typing sb_status in the console at some point while recording the suspect player. This is the only way we can be sure we are watching a demo of the submitted steamid.
Protest Ban
Any use of flaming, abusive language, or language other than English will immediately result in a closure of the protest, without any chance of reopening it. Please be civil when addressing the admins, as they will be towards you. Be sure to have substantiated proof if you claim that the ban has been faked. We do not keep submitted evidence infinitely, so we cannot show evidence for old bans. While there is an official protest running, the details surrounding the ban and protest must not be discussed in public, this goes for both admins and players, so that the protest can be rightly finished.
From the moment of ban it is possible to appeal against a ban for exactely one year, after that time a ban cannot be protested anymore.
IRC
Do NOT PM ops in the IRC channel to ask questions or protest a new ban. Use the features of the website for that. If you have questions use the discussion forum (only for registered users), and if you want to protest a ban please use the protest ban link on website (register and login).
Please do not use mp3 scripts or other annoying scripts that flood the channel. Advertising and racism are against QuakeNet rules. Any abuse of this will result in a kick, temporary ban and then a permanent ban. |
